Knowing The Father’s Blessings Will Bless You

Life is like a roller coaster. We all have highs and lows. At times things seem like they’re spinning out of control. Others times it seems like we’re plugging along working our way up hill. What are we going to find at the top? Is there another hill ahead of us? Or are we in for a quick trip back to the valley? Roller coasters are fun (for most people) but no one wants to live on one! Everyone wants some stability. We like the highs but wish there weren’t so many downers. One wonderful aspect of the Christian life is the ability to get through the down times. This is because we have the Father, Son and Spirit on our side. They’re always with us to help us. However, it’s up to us to learn how to appropriate their power in our lives. One way we do this is by right thinking. When we’re in a downward spiral it can be hard to see anything but our troubles. One way to turn our thinking around is to think about our blessings. A blessing is simply something beneficial that happens to us. James 1:17 tells us every good gift in our life is from the Father. Here is a verse that talks about how the Father blesses us Ephesians 1:3.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.
This short verse is packed with truth about our blessings. Paul blesses or praises the Father because He has been so beneficial to him and us. The next 11 verses describe some of these blessings. For now, let’s just consider 3 aspects of the Father’s blessings from this verse.

3 Aspects Of The Father’s Blessings

  1. The Father decided to bless you. Do you ever wondered how the Father feels about you personally? This verse tells you. He thinks so highly of you that He initiated blessing you. No one made Him do it. He’s a great Dad who likes doing good things for His kids.  Isn’t that cool!
  2. Your blessings are because of your relationship with Christ. When you trusted in Jesus you became part of the family of God. Now whenever the Father sees you, you remind Him of Jesus. You have a permanent, inseparable connection with Jesus.
  3. We have every spiritual blessing in the heavenlies. The word “every” means all. That is an amazing statement! Whatever we could hope for in the spiritual realm is ours!
As good as this may be there are times when it seems like these blessings aren’t enough. You might be thinking, “That’s great for the future but what about now? How about some temporal blessings instead of spiritual ones?” Here’s the problem with that. Temporal blessings don’t fix the problems in our heart. They’re part of the up and down roller coaster. Our spiritual blessings are ours forever. [Tweet "Temporal blessings don't last. Spiritual blessings never fade!"] Mental and emotional issues such as discouragement can’t be fixed with stuff. The way to fix anxiety is to have peace. The way to get through sad times is by having joy. The solution to grief is hope. Spiritual blessings overcome the pain of our hearts. [Tweet "The intangible spiritual blessings of God can take away pain from our hearts."] There is no greater feeling than being loved. The Father loves you, has many blessings for you and wants you to know it! I’d love to hear from you. Please leave a comment or question below.

The Cross Changed Things More Than Many Realize

The Impact Of The Cross In my last post I said the cross changed everything. Does that seem like a lofty statement? Does it seem like hyperbole? Saying that something is important does not make it so. In the USA we’re in the midst of an election year. Things are happening in this election cycle

The Cross Changed Everything!

The Cross As A Desirable Symbol In our world today the cross is an esteemed symbol.
