It’s Good To Remember What God Has Done

One of the most important events in the Old Testament is the crossing of the Red Sea. The description in Exodus 14 is amazing but if that’s all the Bible said about it we might not know how important it was. The reason we know it’s important is because it’s mentioned multiple times in the Old Testament such as Psalm 66:6, 78:13, 106:9, 136:13 and New Testament Acts 7:36, Hebrews 11:29. It’s so important we need to remember it. As 2014 draws to a close it would do us all well to remember what God has done for us this past year. Sometimes we have fantastic Red Sea experiences but usually not. More often what we do have are clear demonstrations of God’s love and care and protection. Here are five reasons why it’s good for us to remember what God did in our lives this past year.

5 Reasons It’s Good to Remember What God Did For Us In 2014

1. We should continually thank and praise God for His wonderful deeds 1 Chronicles 16:8-36. It is all about God. He’s kind. He’s loving. He’s generous and forgiving. Every day we need to thank and praise Him. And then we need to praise Him again.[Tweet "It isn't possible to praise and thank God too much."]
2. It strengthens our faith to face future challenges Hebrews 11:29-12:1. Remembering what God did for you builds your faith to face the next challenge. Those challenges will come.[Tweet "To remember God’s provision in the past is to prepare for the future."]
3. We encourage others who are going through hard times 2 Corinthians 1:3-7. It’s often the case that we see the hand of God when we go through hardship. The Father’s comfort is often beyond comprehension Philippians 4:7. When we remember that peace and comfort and share those memories with others in their time of need it helps them.
4. It shows others what is possible in their own lives Joshua 24:31. There are so many people who know God but haven’t known His power in their lives. They have very little to remember about God’s power. When they see it in our lives, when we talk about His power, it helps them see what’s possible for them!
5. It gives people who don’t know God a reason to trust Him Hebrews 11:6. Trust is never blind. It has a basis in facts or in a promise. When we remember and share what God has done in our lives it becomes an opportunity to introduce others to the One in whom we trust.
