Mountaintop Experiences Remind Us Of What Is Possible

I just got back from a wonderful men’s retreat at Mt. Palomar Christian Conference Center. I had the opportunity to get to know a great group of guys and teach them the Stand Firm Seminar. It was relaxing and fun in spite of the fact that it rained for two of the three days. There were lots of laughs, good food and great worship. Several men shared their personal testimonies of how God dramatically transformed their lives. They warmly received my teaching and two men made first time decisions to trust Christ.

Have you had a mountaintop experience? Have you had a time when you were away from your normal environment and God spoke to you in a memorable way? Here are five reasons why mountaintop experiences are good.

5 Reasons Why Mountaintop Experiences Are Good

  1. They enable us to see things with a fresh perspective. It’s good to step away from the normal busyness of life and think about God. It’s like a Sabbath.
  2. They remind us what is possible with God. Through speakers, testimonies and conversations we come to see new potential for God to work in us and through us.
  3. They enable us to focus on what matters. When we spend more concentrated time than normal thinking about spiritual matters, we understand them more deeply.
  4. They call us to make a commitment to God. When we are on the mountaintop we know we are participants not just spectators in God’s plan.
  5. They lead us to spiritual decisions that we can celebrate. We make decisions that we know are right. They are decisions that will help us, our families and honor the Lord.
Sometimes mountaintop experiences result in significant decisions and life change. Other times they help us to recharge our spiritual and emotional batteries. When was the last time you had a mountaintop experience? If it’s been awhile may I recommend you look for an opportunity to have one? Plan to go to a retreat or conference or seminar.
