The human race is so diverse that there are only a few things we share in common. Abraham Maslow developed
all people have that starts with physiological needs. This includes air, water, food, clothing and shelter. It doesn’t matter if you live in the Amazon forest or New York City, you need these to survive. After the physiological needs Maslow talks about the need for safety and then moves to psychological needs.
What if we were to create a new hierarchy, a spiritual hierarchy of needs? I think Christians would agree that the most basic spiritual need we all have is for salvation, deliverance from the penalty and power of sin. Once we have that we become alive to God and can live as God's child. The question is, what comes next in this spiritual hierarchy of needs?
We could have a lively debate about this. Do we first need to learn how to relate to God? Or do we need to understand who we are as Christians? Perhaps we need to be connected to others in community? There are many things to consider.
I want to suggest to you something that everyone needs every day. It’s a basic need we all share. It’s the need for God's wisdom.

That may elicit a groan for some who think of wisdom as those lofty quotes (often with sunsets or ocean scenes behind them) endlessly posted online by people trying to top someone else’s lofty quote. That isn't the wisdom of God.
It’s true God's wisdom is expressed in short sayings in the book of Proverbs but it’s by no means limited to that. The Bible describes 6 ways God's wisdom can make a positive difference in your life.

Whether you are a mom dealing with rebellious kids, a frustrated employee working in an ungodly environment, a plumber on a difficult job, an employee talking to an upset customer or just someone trying to get through your ‘to do’ list, the wisdom of God will make you better.

I Voted Today Yes, even though it’s a week and a half before official election day, I voted today. Illinois has early voting. Surely you know our motto in Illinois, “Vote early and vote often!” (That’s a joke for my literal readers.) I consider it a God-given responsibility to vote. There aren’t any verses in the
