The Persistent Love Of God the Father

We admire people who are persistent.  We feel good when less talented people succeed in sports because they wouldn't give up and worked harder than anyone else. There are individuals we hold in high esteem who failed multiple times in life but didn't give up and finally succeeded.  Abraham Lincoln is a good example of this. To be persistent is hard work. We all know it’s so much easier to give up. Today I want to show you something you may have never seen.

He didn't give up on you. To help you see this we're going to look at some verses from The Message, a modern, easy to read translation.  As you read this, try to imagine these words as a love letter from a parent to a child.

How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He’s the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son. Because of the sacrifice of the Messiah, his blood poured out on the altar of the Cross, we’re a free people—free of penalties and punishments chalked up by all our misdeeds. And not just barely free, either. Abundantly free! He thought of everything, provided for everything we could possibly need, letting us in on the plans he took such delight in making. He set it all out before us in Christ, a long-range plan in which everything would be brought together and summed up in him, everything in deepest heaven, everything on planet earth. 9 Ways The Father Is Persistent In Loving You

1. He blessed you with spiritual blessings, truly wonderful gifts you’ll have forever. Ephesians 1:3
2. He chose you a long time ago, to show you are personally important to Him. Ephesians 1:4
3. He planned how you would be holy and blameless, to restore the purity He designed you to have. Ephesians 1:4
4. He decided to adopt you into His family, to experience the love that He shares with Jesus and the Spirit. Ephesians 1:5
5. He took pleasure in planning this, and wants you to know what He intended for you. Ephesians 1:5
6. He was overly gracious when you didn't deserve it, like no one else could ever be to you. Ephesians 1:6
7. He poured out Jesus' blood so you could be forgiven, mending what sin had broken. Ephesians 1:7
8. He lavished his love upon you, to fill you with wonder and delight at His focus on you. Ephesians 1:8
9. He thought of everything, planning every detail in heaven and earth for all this to come true for you. Ephesians 1:9-10
