The Blessings of God and Being Content

For the past week or so we have been talking about the spiritual blessing we have in Christ. Do you feel blessed? For many people the spiritual truths of scripture seem distant and theoretical. I hope that as you have been reading and thinking about our blessings from Ephesians 1 that it has touched your heart. A couple of days ago I was driving down the road and had a memorable experience. For some reason my thoughts turned to how I was feeling about my life at that moment. I’m the kind of person who often thinks about what’s going to be happening in months and years ahead. But not at that moment. I had what I can only describe as a gift from God, an “Aha!” moment. I realized that I am both content and happy. What was particularly interesting about that moment was that nothing special or unusual happened that day. It was just a normal day. My mind shifted to think about some of the many things I am working on for the future. An exciting opportunity for ministry later in the year to the Middle East and India. I thought about some of the great things happening and plans we have for the church where I serve as pastor. Even as it did I realized that I didn’t need for any of those things to happen to be happy. I am happy and content right now. The words of Paul from Philippians 4:11 came to mind,

for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.

and of Peter in 1 Peter 1:8,

Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory,

I pray that you may be content and that the peace and joy of the Lord will fill your heart to overflowing, whatever your circumstance in life today!

The Cross Changed Things More Than Many Realize

The Impact Of The Cross In my last post I said the cross changed everything. Does that seem like a lofty statement? Does it seem like hyperbole? Saying that something is important does not make it so. In the USA we’re in the midst of an election year. Things are happening in this election cycle

The Cross Changed Everything!

The Cross As A Desirable Symbol In our world today the cross is an esteemed symbol. One of the favorite hymns of my parents’ generation was “The Old Rugged Cross.”  Many people wear crosses, hang them on walls in their homes, display them in stained glass windows and make the sign of the cross when

My journey of faith started when I was nine years old when I realized that Jesus died and rose again to pay for my sins. At the age of thirteen I felt the call of God on my life for ministry.

I have been fortunate to work in the marketplace for over ten years and in full-time Christian ministry for over thirty years.

My passion is to teach God's Word in such a way that it is easy to understand and so that God uses it to bring about life change in those who hear it.

It is my greatest joy to see God work through me to produce fruit for His glory!
